With a background in psychology and management, and family roots in orthopedics and pain medicine, she knows the code for tackling pain effectively: with brain, heart, and innovation.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Heike Rittner

Professor of Pain Medicine, spokesperson of the Center for Interdisciplinary Pain Medicine (ZiS), and head of the DFG research group ResolvePAIN – she is one of the leading figures in German pain research. With her scientific and clinical expertise, she ensures that Biomi remains scientifically sound, medically relevant, and of the highest quality.

Prof. Dr. Ivo Käthner

Where VR meets pain research: Ivo Käthner is a Professor of Medical Psychology at HMU Potsdam, exploring how psychological and social factors influence pain and how VR can be used to reduce it. Since 2021, he has been supporting Biomi as a scientific partner, contributing his expertise in VR, pain modulation, and neurorehabilitation – bringing science and innovation together.

Stefan Lindner

If anyone truly understands how back pain works, it’s him. Stefan is a graduate sports scientist and specialized pain physiotherapist (SpSPT) — and has been leading the physiotherapy department at the Center for Interdisciplinary Pain Medicine (ZiS) at Würzburg University Hospital for over a decade. At Biomi, he ensures that our therapy not only proves effective but also works seamlessly in everyday clinical practice.

Dr. Isabel Neumann

Science meets empathy: Isabel Neumann is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the University of Würzburg. Her research explores how social support in virtual environments can influence pain perception. As a VR and pain researcher and a psychotherapist in training, she brings both clinical experience and technical know-how to Biomi’s product development – creating a digital therapy that connects mind and body.

Dr. Ralitsa Zhivova

As one of the first team members and driving forces with a medical background, Dr. Ralitsa Zhivova has been passionately involved from the very beginning, has played a key role in developing the therapy, and is dedicated every day to the well-being of our patients.
